Edward Altherr, DMD, MS

Dr. Altherr opened his office in Apex, NC in October 2002. In addition to his private practice of orthodontics, he was on faculty at the University of North Carolina Department of Orthodontics from August 2004 through 2006, and still lectures to the orthodontic residents. Dr. Altherr earned his Dental Medicine Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1997, and practiced general dentistry for 2 years before returning to UNC to complete the Masters program with an orthodontic certificate in 2002.

Dr. Altherr lives in the Apex area with his wife, Beth and two dogs, and enjoys many recreational activities including soccer and golf. Dr. Altherr is also a huge North Carolina Tarheels fan… Go Heels!!!

Susie – Scheduling/Marketing Coordinator

Originally form California, Susie has made NC her home for the past 18 years and resides in the area with her family. She has been with our practice since the fall of 2005. Susie is married and has 3 college-aged children who still manage to keep her very busy. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, baking, gardening and interior design.

Mary – Scheduling/Treatment Coordinator

Originally from Michigan, Mary has made North Carolina home for the past 3 years. She lives in the area with her husband and 4 girls. Mary brings 5 years of dental experience to our office, and has been with our practice since early 2006. In her spare time, Mary enjoys reading, hiking and biking with her family and working with youth.

Jennie – Treatment Coordinator/Billing

Jennie is originally from Chicago, and has made North Carolina home for the past 13 years. She brings six years of orthodontic front desk experience to our office and has been with our practice since the fall of 2006. She is married with two teenage children. Jennie spends most of her free time with family and friends and working with youth.

Elizabeth – Orthodontic Chairside Assistant

Elizabeth is a native of Clayton, and lives in the area with her recently married husband. She is a graduate of the dental assisting program at Wake Technical Community College, and has been with our practice since early 2007. Elizabeth is both state and nationally board certified in dental assisting. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, taking road trips and spending quality time with family and friends.

Sarah- Orthodontic Chairside Assistant

Sarah joined our practice in November 2007. She recently moved to NC with her husband a day after their wedding. Before moving from Massachusetts, Sarah completed her college degree in Science from Quinsigamond Community College where is also a registered Dental Hygienist. Sarah brings nearly 4 years of orthodontic assisting experience to our practice. Her hobbies include spending time with family, movies, reading and listening to good music.

Amber – Orthodontic Chairside Assistant

Amber joined our practice in August 2008. She is a recent graduate of the dental assisting program at Wake Technical Community College. Amber is both state and nationally board certified in dental assisting. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, family, and friends. Her hobbies include photography, graphic design, and going to concerts.

Jordon- Intern

Jordon is originally from Tennessee but has recently returned back to NC from Pennsylvania with her family. She is the niece of Dr. Altherr and has joined our staff as a summer intern (2008). She will be starting college in Virginia this fall. Jordon’s hobbies include dance and reading.
