Dr. Altherr and his wife had a recent addition to their family with the birth of their son Benjamin on December 18, 2008.



Melissa rejoined our practice this past December 2008, and we’re very excited to have her back on our team. Sara joined our team in March, 2009 as one of our treatment coordinators. She brings over 15 years of orthodontic experience to our practice.

Dr. Altherr opened his office in Apex, NC in October 2002. In addition to his private practice of orthodontics, he was on faculty at the University of North Carolina Department of Orthodontics from August 2004 through 2006, and still lectures to the orthodontic residents. Dr. Altherr earned his Dental Medicine Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1997, and practiced general dentistry for 2 years before returning to UNC to complete the Masters program with an orthodontic certificate in 2002.
